There is a bug with Adobe CS3 and Mac OS X 10.6.3 on some factory refurbished Macs or Macs that have had their mother boards replaced. Apparently many replaced mother boards have a serial number longer than 12 characters, and this causes Adobe CS3 applications to crash at launch after updating to Mac OS X 10.6.3.

There is no quick fix at the moment. Workarounds include reverting to Mac OS X 10.6.2 or asking an Apple authorized repair center to run the Serializer program (available to certified Apple Techs) to re-assign the original serial number or one less than 12 digits.

If you have a refurbished Mac or a Macs that been serviced by Apple, and are running Snow Leopard and Adobe CS3, it would be a very good idea to check the length of your serial number prior to updating to Mac OS X 10.6.3.
