If you own an out of warranty MacBook Pro manufactured in 2007 or 2008, and are randomly experiencing video problems (scrambled/distorted video or black screens), there may be way to get this problem fixed for free thanks to a recent class action lawsuit against Nvidia.

Nvidia has conceded that some of the GeForce 8600M graphic processors used in 15” and 17” MacBook Pros were faulty. This same graphic processor was also used in Dell and HP notebooks, which are also included in this class action lawsuit.

To check if your faulty MacBook Pro (or Dell/HP notebook) qualifies, go to www.nvidiasettlement.com and click the Check Models link.
