The OS X 10.8.3 update, and its companion Security Update 2013-001, have been out now for almost a month. Other than the few rare and addressable issues reported I’ve blogged about lately, I am considering these updates safe, and have begun pushing them out to Chicago All Covered Clients under contract.
If you get an “Update Failed” error when updating to OS X 10.8.3, and the App Store crashes afterwards when attempting to apply the update again, try clearing the App Store cache. To do this, launch Terminal and enter this:
This should open a Finder window. Locate and trash the folder named com.appstore, then launch the App Store and download the Combo updater for OS X 10.8.3.
