Apple has unveiled preliminary details and pictures of the new Mac Pro, due out later this year. It has a radical new tiny cylindrical design (measuring in at 9.9″x6.6″), uses 100% PCI Express-based flash storage, and comes standard with six Thunderbolt 2 ports and two video GPUs. It’s definitely a gutsy move on Apple’s part, giving the Mac Pro a much-needed overhaul.

One major detail worth noting about the new Mac Pro is that, other than RAM, it likely won’t be very upgradable internally. It doesn’t look like it will support adding internal drives or PCI cards, so any upgrades will probably need to be made externally via a Thunderbolt port.
