The developers of MacKeeper have agreed to pay a 2 million dollar settlement in a class action lawsuit, filed by over 500,000 customers in the US that purchased MacKeeper.

MacKeeper is a mostly useless Mac “maintenance” app (a.k.a. junkware) that is aggressively marketed online via popups and scare tactic ads. Most customers who paid $39.95 for MacKeeper were mislead or tricked into thinking their Mac was in need of serious repairs. Many MacKeeper owners have reported that in addition to it not fixing anything legitimate, the app often reported fake problems during it’s system scans.

If you purchased MacKeeper, and would like to join this class action lawsuit, you must submit a claim before 11/30/15.
