Adobe released a bad update for both Acrobat DC and Acrobat Reader recently that has broken the ability to print for many Mac users. Users that have updated to OS X 10.11.5 seem to be more affected by this bug, but it’s been reported with other versions of OS X too.

The symptom is you try to print in Acroabat DC, and the print window never comes up. Printing works in all other Adobe CC apps.

Adobe is aware of the problem, and their workaround is to make sure that the default printer has a name of 9 characters or less. If the Mac users has multiple printers, select one with a shorter name as the default. If all the printer names are 10 characters or longer, then a printer must be deleted and re-added, and the name needs to be shortened.
