Apple recently disclosed a potential hardware problem that can lead to data loss affecting 13” MacBook Pro (non Touch Bar) models sold between June 2017 and June 2018, with 128GB or 256GB solid-state drives. More specifically, the model will be listed as “MacBook Pro (13-inch, 2017, Two Thunderbolt 3 ports)” in the About this Mac window.

Apple has created a new service program to repair these MacBook Pros, even if they are out of warranty.  More details on this service program, including a serial number check to see if a MacBook pro is eligible, can be found here.
